For Beginner Handlers
Advance Handlers
and Observers

Location:
Westinn Kennels
Everything Under One WOOF
1522 Swantnerville Dr.
Wentzville, Missouri  63385

George Alston, author of The Winning Edge, will be conducting an intensive two-day handling seminar on March 21st & 22rd, 2009.

This event will be held indoors in a large, fully matted ring from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.  Check-in will be from 8:00 am – 8:30 am each day. Morning Refreshments and luncheon will be provided at no additional cost.

Who should attend? – Anyone who has ever lost to a lesser dog in the conformation show ring! Regardless of whether you are competing for the Winner’s points, Best of Breed, the Group, or even Best in Show, this clinic can help you sharpen your Winning Edge!

This seminar is designed to educate the participants, it is not intended to be a training session for the dogs. Please bring only ring-wise, well mannered dogs over one year of age. Dogs must be current on all vaccinations. Crating areas inside the building will be available for your convenience. Dogs must be crate trained as they will be in a separate room from the seminar. Dogs that are disruptive will have to be removed from the building. Weather permitting, you may wish to leave you dogs in your vehicles. Parking is adjacent to the building.

Only individuals who have enrolled in the seminar will be permitted in the seminar area of the building. Children who wish to participate must be over ten years of age and handle dogs of appropriate size and temperament. Any individual under eighteen years of age must have a parent or legal guardian sign the registration form prior to enrollment in the seminar.

COURSE LEVELS:

  • Beginner (Limited to 20 Participants with dogs):This class is geared toward the novice exhibitor.

  • Advanced (Limited to 20 Participants with dogs): This class is for participants who are at the point that they do not  have to consciously think about their every move.

  • Observers (Unlimited): This is extremely beneficial if you have never attended before. This offers a great opportunity to listen and learn without the distraction of a dog.

The seminar will include tips on:

Showing a dog to its greatest advantage

  Enhancing the dog’s overall appearance

The psychology and philosophy of winning

  Handler attitude and ring appearance

At the end of the seminar there will be a competition for Best Handler in each class.  These two winners will compete  with each other and a rosette being awarded for Best Handler in Show.  A rosette will also be awarded to the student who is Most Improved at each level. Participants should wear appropriate “show clothes”, such as rubber soled shoes.  It is also suggested that you bring pencil and paper in order to take notes. Mr. Alston is a demanding teacher and he makes no bones about calling it like he sees it.  If you bring a tough skin and a desire to learn, you will walk away having attended one of the most enlightening and useful seminars ever!

Cost:
$150.00 for Participants with dogs.
$75.00 for Observers without dogs.

registration Deadline:
March 14, 2009 Entry fees must accompany registration for it to be valid.
Registration fees are non-refundable after registration deadline.
