Obedience Ring Ready:
So you and your dog have gone through all the training classes, and you look
pretty good. You are ready to enter your first obedience trials. But how?
What do you take? What little handler errors could cost you points or even a
qualification? And how do you polish your performance to get those high
scores for placements? These and other question will be discussed in this
class taught by a veteran obedience competitor.
This sessions will cover the Novice Level Obedience.

Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
CGC is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs
who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good
Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet
ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass
the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel
Club. Your dog does not have to be purebred or AKC registered to qualify for
the AKC CGC Certificate. CGC training will enhance the bond
between you and your dog. Dogs who have a solid obedience education are
a joy to live with-they respond well to household routines, have good
manners in the presence of people and other dogs, and they fully enjoy
the company of the owner who took the time to provide training,
intellectual stimulation, and a high quality life.

Rally-Obedience
The latest craze in dog obedience, a dog and handler team run through a
"Rally-O" course made up of between ten and twenty different "stations".
Signs posted at each station indicate what the team is required to do - the
signs will instruct teams to go fast or slow, to halt (dog must sit at
heel), to make turns and circles, to reverse direction, to do a
sit-stay-recall, or other basic obedience exercises. Rally is a great way to
have a different adventure with your dog each and every time, since each
Rally course will be unique and exciting! Novice, Advance, and Excellent
level Classes will be offered throughout the year.
Novice: For
the very beginner. The person just starting out in Rally Obedience.
Recommended that your dog knows the basic obedience commands such as Sit,
Down, Heel, Come. Supplies needed for class include:
- 4 or 6 ft leash (leather strongly encouraged)
- Treats
- Kennel (to keep dog in so you can walk the courses)

was developed to train dolphins and whales at marine parks, and has been
developed to train the family pet. This training method uses positive
training methods to teach the animal to do specific tasks. The animals
learning by operant conditioning methods. Training through operant
conditioning results in purposeful behavior, while training through
classical conditioning results in habitual behavior. With clicker training

The dog actually wants to learn and has fun training. Clicker training has
